The wards are equipped with adequate nursing staff and amenities for the patient. The department offers speciality services in the form of child guidance clinic, family counseling clinic, substance addiction clinic and geriatric care clinic.

The department has well equipped seminar and demonstration rooms with seating capacity of 30 and audio visual aids. There is a well equipped departmental library and departmental museum.

The department is active in research. All the latest equipments are available like multiple behavior therapy machine, biofeedback machine, EEG machine and ECT Machine are available

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, a programme was organized at Career Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital at IIM Road Ghaila Lucknow. The Hon’ble Chairman, Principal & Dean & other Senior Faculty members were present to preside over the programme.

The programme was organized by the Department of Psychiatry as part of worldwide celebrations being hosted on the occasion of World Mental Health Week on World Mental Health Day on October 10th various academic and creative activities like Psychiatry Quiz Competition and Poster Competition for medical students.

The programme was inaugurated by the Principal & Dean, Prof. (Dr) V. P. Sharma, Prof. (Dr) I. A. Usmani (HOD Ortho) & Prof. S. P. Sinha (HOD PSM) who lighted the lamp and inaugurated the function. This was followed by welcome of Hon’ble Chairman sir & Senior Faculty members by presenting floral banquets.

Guest lectures were delivered by HOD Peadiatrrics Dr. Zaigam Abbas who spoke on Pediatric Psychiatry disorder ADHD and highlighted the symptoms and early intervention strategies.

Dr. Abbas Mehdi, HOD Psychiatry gave talk on the WHO theme of young people and Mental Health in changing world and guided the students how to stay calm, active and mentally fit during stressful periods.

The recipients of the Quiz competition award Dr. Zahwa and Dr. Appu Nilakanadan were given momentos and winner Certificates by the Hon’ble Chairman. Dr. K. Shahul Hameed and Dr. Rameez Uddin Siddiqui were also given Certificates and Trophies for being the Runner-ups in the Quiz Competition.

Winners of Poster Competition Dr. Khushboo Jaiswal, 1st Runner-up Dr. Sabiya Ahereen, 2nd Runner-up Dr. Tanya Sonkar, 3rd Runner-up Dr. Zoya Kulsoom were awarded by the Principal & Dean. A Special Prize for innovative idea in Poster designing was given to Dr. Shalini Kaushal.

The programme was concluded by Hon’ble Chairman’s appreciating remarks.
